Acne Health and Dry Skin

by Sabina Carvalho

There is a common misconception that only people with oily skin suffer from acne. Even though it is true that oily skin types are more prone to acne, some people with dry skin also suffer from acne breakouts. But, how can anyone deal with dry skin and acne when most acne products are known to cause irritation?

First of all, dry skin can flake and crack allowing acne bacteria to enter the skin. This problem is sometimes treated with harsh products that can make your skin even drier, so in order to keep your acne under control it is vital that you keep it moisturized.

You should modify your daily cleansing routine to include the following steps:

Step One: Cleanse with Oil

Try to avoid using soapy cleansers on dry skin because it may cause irritation, instead try using oil. You may think that using oil can actually promote more acne breakouts, but it's the complete opposite. It all depends on finding the right type of oil. In this case, if you look for a natural acne remedy that is a non-comedogenic oil then you'll have great results.

Here is a simple home acne remedy that you can use. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of castor oil with 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Once the combination is ready, simply apply and massage for 2 to 3 minutes.

You can remove the mask using a warm, moist washcloth on your face for a few minutes. Once the cloth has cooled, you can wipe the oil from your skin.

Step Two: Tea Tree oil can Help treat Acne

Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common acne creams on the market. However, it can be extremely irritating to dry skin. Tea tree oil is an effective and gentler substitute for benzoyl peroxide.

This product can be purchased at a health food store or online, and can be found either in cream form or in oil form.

Application is simple. All you need to do is soak a cotton ball in water and add 3 to 4 drops of tea tree oil to the ball. Apply the diluted oil on the areas that are most prone to acne. Once your skin becomes accustomed to the oil, it can be used without being diluted.

Step Three: Keep your Moisturizer Handy

With the proper amount of moisturizer, the oils in the skin can balance out. This can actually help reduce the frequency of acne breakouts. When looking for this type of product, try using an oil-free, non comedogenic formula to control the amount of oil you are applying to your face.

If your skin dries out during the day, you can apply more moisturizer. You needn't worry if you apply more moisturizing cream, dry skin is known to withstand being moisturized more than twice a day.

Other Ways of Treating Acne

You might prefer traditional products designed for oily skin types. If this is the case, you should apply this type of product less often until your skin becomes accustomed to it, and follow-up with a thicker moisturizer.

If you prefer a more gentle acne treatment that can deal with facial and/or back acne, then you might want to try BIOSKINCLEAR. This natural product is safe and can be used on all skin types to treat minor scars from acne.
